Supporting the Rochester MN Community

Supporting the Rochester MN Community
As the year comes to a close, many of us will look back on all we’ve accomplished and make plans for the year ahead. Throughout 2019, our Rochester Area Builders members generously gave their time, talent, and money to support people and organizations in southeastern Minnesota. Here are
a few of the many ways we’re committed to supporting our community:

Studs, Struts and Stilettos
The 2019 Stud, Struts and Stilettos event raised more than $17,000 for Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity. This highly regarded fashion show challenges designers to create outfits with materials used in the building industry. Hosted at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium, the event had more than 600 people in attendance.

Real Men Wear Pink
John Eischen, our Executive Director, served as the Chair for Rochester’s Real Men Wear Pink fundraiser campaign. Throughout the month of October, John encouraged members and people in the Rochester, MN community to donate money to the fundraiser and gave a free pink tape measure to anyone who donated $20 or more. This year, he reached his goal of raising $2,500 for the American Cancer Society and breast cancer research. We will continue accepting donations for the American Cancer Society through the end of the year, so stop by our office to get your pink tape measure, while supplies last.
2019 Philanthropic Award
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Southern Minnesota Chapter (AFP) awarded Rochester Area Builders as the “2019 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization” on Wednesday, November 13. This award is given to an individual, corporation, or organization who made tremendous efforts to give back to the community through philanthropy. Using our time, talents, and resources, here are just a few of the many organizations we’ve supported within the last year: Women’s Shelter, PossAbilities, Bear Creek Services, Hiawatha Homes, Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Club of Rochester, Paws and Claws, Rochester Farmer’s Markets, Zumbro Ridge Estates, Silver Lake Park, Family Service Rochester, and Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity.
Plans for 2020
Looking forward to 2020, Rochester Area Builders has big plans on the calendar. Next year, our 40 Below group for young professionals will continue giving back to the community with several local volunteer opportunities. In February, proceeds from our “Furever Homes” fundraiser at the 2020 Home Show will benefit our local humane society, Paws and Claws. We’re planning ahead for the 2020 Studs, Struts & Stilettos in April which will again benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Rochester Area Builders is dedicated to giving back to southeast Minnesota and the surrounding area through our events, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. If you’re interested in becoming a RAB member, fill out your application today!
