Reflecting on 2020

As we begin our descent into the new year, we want to take the time to look back and reflect on the events of 2020.  This past year was a hard-hitting year for many.  Numerous individuals’ and families’ lives were turned upside down.  As we navigated through it all, we strived to never lose sight of our main mission: to advance the building industry in southeast Minnesota by providing leadership, education, networking, and information to members, the community, and government officials.  To continue serving our community in a valuable way, we pivoted our projects and events to ensure the comfort and safety of those participating.

Join us as we reflect on a few of our most memorable events of 2020.

2020 RAB Home Show
We kicked off 2020 with a bang with our annual Home Show.  This weekend-long event offered home buyers and owners an opportunity to connect and ask questions with talented local builders.  Many other fun activities were offered as part of the annual show, ranging from a professional-led cooking demonstration to family-friendly crafts.

Job Shadowing for Kasson Mantorville High School Students
One of the most rewarding parts of being a Rochester Area Builders member is knowing that you’re making an impact in the lives of future tradesmen and women.  Many of our members offered local students the opportunity to job shadow earlier this year, giving them a first-hand look at what a career in the trades industry could look like for them.

Building Toolbox Kits for Kids
As the world stayed safe at home in March, our members and team worked to create toolbox kits for kids to build at home.  Our association aims to provide children and students a variety of opportunities to learn about the trades industry far before graduating from high school.

2020 Showcase of Homes and Remodelers Tour
This year’s Spring and Fall Showcase of Homes and the Remodelers Tour were unlike any other, featuring a variety of virtual opportunities to experience at all three events.  This year’s Fall Showcase of Homes and Remodelers Tour digital magazine gave users insight on the participating homes and projects, as well as information on local companies and professionals.

2020 RAB Golf Outing
Many members hit the links this July for our annual RAB golf outing.  One of the many benefits of being a member of Rochester Area Builders is having access to a variety of networking events.  Networking with other industry professionals not only builds your professional reputation but can grow your business with opportunities to gain referrals.

40 Below Clothing Drive
As temperatures began to drop this fall, members of our 40 Below group worked to gather donations for winter coats and used clothing.  These donations were given to the Salvation Army to provide those in need with warm clothing to get through the winter.

Donating Tools to a Local School
At Rochester Area Builders, we take pride in our relationships with local schools.  This fall, we were able to donate $5,000 worth of tools to the Kasson-Mantorville Middle School woodworking program.  By contributing resources to local schools, students are given the opportunity to gain valuable trade experience at a young age.

Rochester Area Builders is always finding ways to provide valuable experiences and opportunities to our community and members.  We’d like to thank all of those who have supported us throughout the year.  We are excited to continue being the industry’s trusted voice as we turn the page into 2021.
